Steps to Sell a Home: Step 2, Hired a Realtor, Now What?

Jennifer Caywood: Nashville, Tennessee Real Estate

Your Realtor gets to work

Hot Dog! You’ve hired me to represent you and list your home for sale!

What happens now? More paperwork!

Top 10 List. Write a top ten list of reasons you love living in your home and neighborhood. These are intangibles- reasons buyers can’t easily see for themselves such as easy to find location in neighborhood, you have great neighbors, the farmers market on the corner every Saturday, etc. I’ll use this list in your home’s marketing.

Let me know what date you want your home to go live in the MLS. I need about one week’s notice before I can put your property on the market. There is pre-marketing work that needs to done on my end such as photography, print marketing and there’s work to be done on your end such as decluttering, repairing any items that need to be repaired and professionally deep cleaning your home.

Change the privacy settings on your Facebook page RIGHT NOW so only friends can see your posts. I don’t want buyers searching your name or address and learning that you just got a big promotion at work or that you’re divorcing, moving across the country or you’re having a baby. All of these items can hurt our negotiating power. It is imperative you change your security settings to make your posts and photos private to strangers. While it’s ok to say that you are selling, please do not mention why you are selling your home!

Once you’ve completed the above, let me know and I’ll send you your next steps.
